As a reminder, a 'lead' is a prospective patient who demonstrates interest in a service or procedure. There are two main types of leads:
As you know, there are many different steps that leads have to go through in order to become a patient. For example, a new patient has to demonstrate interest in a procedure or service, then schedule a consultation, consider the cost and then decide to move forward or not. Each one of these stages is called a lead status or deal stage.
Note: For the purposes of this article and for your understanding as a whole, we use the term deal stage and lead status interchangeably.
In the simplest of terms, a lead status is a specific category the patient falls under in their journey with your practice.
Within your Dewy account, there are several preset deal stages/lead statuses. These include:
Within your Dewy account, these lead statuses are the headers of your deal pipeline. Note: Your CRM should parallel your sales process. Dewy is extremely adaptable and our team can customize the lead statuses in your pipeline at any time.

Bringing all of these concepts together, a patient's lead status and the email and SMS automations are directly interrelated.
A patient's lead status, in addition to the treatment that they are interested in, dictate which automation they will be entered into.
Here are some examples to make this more clear:
Don't worry, our colorful deal pipeline makes these concepts very easy to understand in practice. Within the deal pipeline, you can view which lead status each patient falls under. On the deal pipeline, you'll be able to visually see which contacts fall under each lead status column as they go through the patient journey.
It’s extremely important to manage the pipeline daily by dragging and dropping leads to the correct status. This ensures that leads receive the right message at the right time - each time that you drag and drop a lead to a new lead status column, a new automation is triggered. The lead status and treatment fields will determine which communication will be sent to the lead and when.
